Ssssslitherin' Along

It was an absolutely gorgeous day to take a boy and dog for a walk. We encountered an example of Opheodrys vernalis as we made our way back through the woods.

Oh, and I ate a bug.  Oh, well.  Add 5 calories.

Met this little guy on the way back.

The Green Snakes won't bite even when first caught, you can safely pick one up without getting nipped. The way to tell the Smooth from the Rough Green snakes is to look closely at the scales - - on the Rough, the scales have a central keel (ridge). Most of the Greens I've ever encountered in the wild have been Roughs.

Yeah, smooth and rough are both in the area.
