The Stranger

After listening to this song for over twenty years, I'm still not sure exactly what it means, or if it's even meant to be anything more than a statement about the impenetrability of the human condition.

If the latter, I disagree, but it's a good song.

That is one of my favorite albums.

Not sure what happened to him, marriage to a supermodel, numerous car accidents, some rehab, but that work was pure brilliance.

I think I have a three-way tie between The Stranger, Glass Houses, and The Nylon Curtain- but I think my all-time favorite Joel album may be Cold Spring Harbor. I guess I lurve me some Joel.

I had to save up for my albums as a teen- and buy them secretly, too. At one point, almost all the tapes I had were Joel's.

Heh.

That brings back memories, driving down to St. Simon's Island in my '67 Coronet, 19 years old, full of piss and vinegar, the future before me, listening to The Stranger on the 8-track...

Play "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" for me, John. :)
