Stop the Madness!

I finished Mike Williamson's The Weapon today. Wow. An incredible book, not for the faint of heart, but filled with thoughtful looks at the mind of the soldier, political theory, and the destruction of war- and the power of love.

Some other things have been pretty stupid here, and I doubt that U.S. influence will recover for months, if ever. I was reminded today of a thought I had years ago: the US military doesn't win because we're the best, we win because the other militaries are even worse!

John, when you publish your book, I will buy a copy. And Temple is NOT the only graduate program in the world. Just means a better one is waiting. As a novice in mailing, I learned yesterday I have to repack my box as priority not express mail...You may be gone when it arrives but I'm sure you will leave firm instructions for dessimination. HOPE you are gone, actually. When I explained to Walmart employes why I wanted the glasses, you wouldn't believe the efforts they went to secure them. One was a mom whose son had just finished his second tour in Iraq and with his 30 days decided to see the pyramids in Eygpt because he never wants to come back to the middle east in his friggin' life.
Hope he gets his wish. Am sending a few goodies, of course. Assume you will take care of distribution.
When you get back consider grant writing or community relations. You are a natural.

That's very kind of you. The support I've been shown has been incredible, and I've very thankful. The cooks were asking me yesterday about the glasses. "They're coming, they're coming," I told them. "Two weeks."

"Never wants to come back..." I totally understand!

Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it.
